Privacy Policy

Last updated September 12, 2026

The short version: every bill in Check 2 Check is typed in by you. There's no bank-account linking and no financial data aggregator involved. The app has no servers of its own — your data moves directly between your device and Apple's iCloud, and, only if you choose to turn it on, your own Google Drive.

Information you provide directly

Bills, categories, tags, payment schedules, and any other details you enter are stored on your device. If iCloud sync is available, this data also syncs through Apple's iCloud into your own private CloudKit database, tied to your Apple ID. We do not operate a server that this data passes through or is stored on — it moves directly between your device and Apple's iCloud infrastructure.

Signing in with Apple

Sign in with Apple is used to support account-related features like app lock and iCloud sync. Depending on the choice you make during sign-in, Apple may share your real email address or a private relay address that forwards to it. We do not receive or store your Apple ID password.

Signing in with Google (optional)

If you choose to enable Google Drive backup, you'll sign in with a Google account. We request only the drive.file permission scope — the narrowest Google Drive scope available. It lets the app see and manage only the specific backup file the app itself creates in your Drive; it cannot see, list, or access anything else in your Google Drive. We also receive your Google account's basic profile information (your email address) so the app can show which account is currently signed in.

Google Drive backup (optional)

If you turn this on, a single backup file containing your bill data is created in your own Google Drive. That file lives in your Google account and is governed by Google's own privacy policy — we don't keep a separate copy anywhere, because Check 2 Check doesn't have a backend server to keep one on. You can delete this file directly from Google Drive at any time.

Sharing a bill with someone (optional)

If you choose to share a bill with another person, that bill's data becomes accessible to the Apple ID(s) you invite, through Apple's CloudKit sharing system (CKShare). Apple manages this sharing relationship directly; we don't separately store, copy, or transmit shared bill data anywhere outside of Apple's iCloud infrastructure.

Subscriptions and payments

Check 2 Check Premium is purchased entirely through Apple's In-App Purchase system. We never see, receive, or store your payment card details — Apple handles billing, receipts, and refunds directly.

What we don't do

  • No linking to your bank accounts, of any kind
  • No third-party financial data aggregators or transaction feeds
  • No advertising and no ad-tracking SDKs
  • No selling, renting, or sharing your data with data brokers
  • No third-party analytics services that identify you personally

Data stored on your device

Your bills, categories, tags, profiles, and app settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's standard on-device storage. A home screen widget reads a copy of this data through Apple's App Group mechanism, which stays entirely on-device.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes its local data from your device. iCloud-synced data can be managed or removed through Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage on your device. A Google Drive backup file can be deleted directly from Google Drive at any time, independent of the app.

Children's privacy

Check 2 Check is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
